About the Rockland Talbot House
We think the best thing about a Maine “vacation rental bed and breakfast” is that no one has to cook! It really isn’t much of a vacation if you still have to shop, prepare, and cook all of the meals and then worry about the dishes. At the Rockland Talbot House, we aim to pamper. Included in the room rate is something to start and end your day with – we start you off with our daily homemade breakfast and end your day with a slice of homemade pie (with or without ice cream!) In between, you can enjoy over 30 restaurants in Rockland alone from food trucks, to seafood on the water, sandwiches, sit-down restaurants, pubs, etc… There are wonderful restaurants in the area, and we will help you find what you are craving! And not to worry, we will show you where to leave your dirty dishes, and we will take care of them for you. Experience all the luxury and pampering you deserve at our mid-coast bed and breakfast near Camden, Maine!
The “B&B” part of our Rockland, Maine vacation B&B allows us to be licensed to serve our guests a daily homemade breakfast. If you are an early riser, you can enjoy breakfast beverage service (coffee, tea, or juice) available in the guest pantry area in the dining room at 7am.
Otherwise, don’t worry about setting an alarm clock – you are on vacation, after all! – so we serve our breakfast anytime between 8am and 9:30am in one of our two dining rooms on campus. Feel free to jumpstart your day and be seated at 8am or sleep late and roll out of bed to sit down at 9:30am or anything in between. We have individual tables for two or group tables if you are traveling with friends or family.
Our homemade breakfast service starts with coffee or tea, choice of assorted juices, a fruit course, and a daily homemade bread or pastry. We follow that with a homemade hot entrée that is either a “sweet” or “savory” dish. On “sweet” days, breakfast could raspberry or banana stuffed French toast, waffles, or lemon-blueberry pancakes. A “savory” breakfast could be a baked egg dish (crustless quiche) with tomato and garden basil, fresh spinach and artichoke, or perhaps broccoli, onion, and cheddar.
Although we only do one daily entrée, we post our menu the afternoon before, so you can check out what we are serving and let us know if you would like an alternate breakfast. Alternate breakfasts that are always available are old-fashioned oatmeal with fixings, assorted cold cereal, waffles, or farm-fresh scrambled eggs. Our eggs are organic, local, and free range and are delivered weekly from the farm. We can also accommodate special diets – gluten-free, Celiac (please specify to control cross-contamination), lactose-free, vegetarian, etc. We would ask that you please let us know your dietary preferences, allergies, or needs at least the night before so we can be better prepared to accommodate you.
Stocked 24-Hour Guest Pantry Area and Homemade Pie in the Evening
The “vacation rental” part of our B&B vacation rental means that we provide our guests with some kitchen services. Our guest pantry area has a refrigerator that we stock with complimentary sodas, water, ice, and ice cream, and another refrigerator for guests to store their leftovers, wine, or other foods. The pantry has a microwave, assorted dishes, silverware, and glassware. It is stocked with assorted teas, microwave coffee, popcorn, and cocoa.
We offer our guests a slice of homemade pie (with ice cream of course!) every evening. We place the pies out late afternoon or early evening for the enjoyment of all of our guests.
The Grand Parlor is our largest space, featuring 12-foot ceilings and a working fireplace. We offer a table with an ongoing jigsaw puzzle, board games, cards, books, and magazines. There is a grouping of chairs in front of the big screen TV, so you and your fellow travelers can enjoy watching a game together. This is where we keep the sample menu book, our personal road trip maps of the area, and brochures about our favorite activities in the area.
Right off the Grand Parlor is the sunroom where we often serve breakfast in the morning; the guest pantry is in the Dining Room. The Library is located on the second floor, offering a quieter location to curl up with a good book.
The inn offers both a front porch and a side porch and there are Adirondack chairs on the side lawn between the Rockland Talbot House and the Berry Manor Inn if you want to soak upsome rays amongst the gardens.
Off-Street Parking and Charging Stations
The Rockland Talbot House offers off-street parking for all of our guests. Maine is generally a very safe state but in today’s world there are issues everywhere and we suggest that you make sure your cars and bikes are locked up at night. We do have video surveillance cameras in the parking area and at all exterior doors.
Guests of the Rockland Talbot House that are travelling with a Tesla or other electric automobile are welcome to charge overnight at the charging station shared with the Berry Manor Inn (directly next door).
